Wishful thinking

I am perusing Net-a-Porter and wearing things in my imagination. In reality, I am wearing a ratty tee and oversized jean shorts...while having tea on a balcony, on the 15th floor, overlooking Herzliya and the beach, in mid-day sun...so I am not complaining.

Nonetheless, here is what my imagination has me wearing.

Acne light denim playsuit

Camilla and Marc blush silk and linen jacket

Giuseppe Zanotti peep-toe canvas boots

Isabel Marant howlite-embellished necklace

Isabel Marant lapis oversized rings

Today's Inspiration

Here are some looks that are making me happy today - I hope they inspire you too. Happy Tuesday. xox

I love this cozy, fuzzy, effortless, layered look.
Bambi Northwood-Blyth in Russh (via Studded Hearts)

This is a little predictable of me, no? Oversized, soft pink suit.
Dolores Doll by Sophie Delaporte in Lula (via Fashion Gone Rogue)

Maybe a little predictable of me, also - neutrals head to toe, but I love Hanneli's style and her blog.

This outfit reminds me of Audrey Hepburn on the fire escape with a guitar singing Moon River.
Lara Stone by Alasdair McLennan (via Fashion Gone Rogue)

A little grunge inspired - ripped shirts and knotted hair. I love how simple and casual this is, yet I would definitely wear this on a night out. Lesson: all you need is a pair of killer boots.
Lindsey Hoover by Chadwick Tyler for Resin's Spring 2010 lookbook (via Fashion Gone Rogue)

I'd love to wear this Helmut Lang dress and jacket out tonight...
Maddie Welch in Russh by Benny Horne (via Fashion Gone Rogue)

Where I come from

Vintage mom & dad. xox

Over the top

I just got back from the lowest place on earth, 422 metres below sea level and supersaline, Yam Ha-melah i.e. the Dead Sea. Of course it rained all of yesterday and I never actually made it INTO the lake because it was cold (rationalization: I've been in it before) and why subject yourself to that when the hotel spa reproduces the salt water floating experience at 37 degrees celcius?

Well I'm back and it's time to post. I love this picture. This is Natasha Poly in Muse accessorized to excess, which is something I always advocate. It reminds me of hovering over my mother's jewelry boxes and trying on everything at once. Shouldn't we still be allowed to have fun and play dress-up? I kind of want to wear this to the airport and see how frustrated people get when I get to the metal detectors. "Oh, silly me, let me just remove my bracelets," followed by a slow and steady CLINK...CLINK...CLINK...

Candy and polka dots

I walked around Tel Aviv yesterday eating candy and watermelon popsicles. I bought a cute floral dress (pictures to come soon) and scoped out some big turquoise rings (and for some strange reason those red, heart-shaped, ubiquitous-as-hipster-shutter-shades, Lolita sunglasses I'm still thinking about today - why not? And don't you think they would have gone great with the outfit?) at an outdoor market I might just have to go back for. Ahh I love shopping in unfamiliar cities, where the generic stores are still novel to me, my eye is indiscriminate and my mood just a little more playful and adventurous.

Two of my favourite fashion illustrators

Garance. I can't believe I haven't even posted about her yet - hers was the first fashion blog I ever got into. Not only does Garance Doré take beautiful pictures, have amazing style and write with a charming Parisienne humour, but she draws in that kind of effortless way that displays talent in one stroke.

The talented Kelly Smith at Birdy & Me combines pencil drawing and digital colouring in a way that honestly makes me kind of jealous. You can support her work and acquire one of her drawings at her etsy store here.

Na na na na na

This isn't even about style. This is about gloating. Tanning. Day 1.

Jalouse

These seem like the perfect springtime daytime outfits with all the casual loose layers and bright colours. I want to be wearing every single one of them (I wouldn't mind the long, messy, wavy mane either). They teach us three wonderful things:
1- Khaki green goes with pretty much any colour. Here, it's paired with bright pink or yellow, which are great eye-catching complements.
2- It doesn't matter if you're just wearing a simple, oversized t-shirt. You'll still feel like a rockstar if you accessorize with huge necklaces. I love the beaded with brown leather string necklace in the third picture. I want it. I also love the big turquoise rings.
3- Colourful/print oversized bags = yes, please.

Dear Mary-Kate and Ashley,

Will you marry me?
Love, Tu-Linh

The first is a recent picture of Mary-Kate and the second is probably my favourite picture of Ashley from a Marie Claire I had a couple years ago.

Hello, beach

I'm writing to you this morning from Israel, where it is hot and sunny, where there is sand and salt water and where I will be for the next two weeks. Jealous? Here is how I feel. This is Kate Moss by Mario Sorrenti for Vogue Homme International. I think for the stylist's plane being delayed (hence the no clothes), they did a pretty good job on this shoot.

Happy birthday to me!

I know it was yesterday, but the celebration continues. Balloons, cake, pink skirt and baby blue blazer. Off to Israel tomorrow! Stay tuned.

Last one, I promise

Tommy Ton agrees with me: "Get ready for shearling mania later this fall/winter." This aviator jacket is Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall 2010.

More shearling

I wanted to title this post "sheer shearling" (as in utter/absolute not transparent) or like "sheer(ling) luck" because I think one of the biggest reasons why I started a blog was to pun at liberty. But I stopped myself. But then I wrote this, so I didn't really stop myself. I love the shearling trend - I saw a couple of great shearling lined leather jackets at a thrift store in Berlin but my budget just did not permit. I also don't approve of spending more than 10, maybe 20 Euro on thrift items. But it IS my birthday today (happy birthday to me!), so maybe if I find another one I like, I'll treat myself.

I love this look, I love her thrift store baggy shorts, I love her new hair, I love her quirkiness, I love her I love her I love her.

Wildfox Fall 2010

Since I'm on the "girly" theme already, I thought I'd post some pictures from "It's Witchcraft," the Wildfox fall 2010 lookbook (to see the whole "story," go to ilovewildfox.com). And yes, that IS Nicole Fox, the 5'7" redheaded America's Next Top Model winner, looking amazing. I love Wildfox's campaigns because they always have somewhat disheveled girls prancing around and looking hot, they are always colourful, fun and quirky and they really make you understand the value of a cute graphic tee.
