Fendi Fall 2010 RTW

Ok. So this post took me ALL day because I am a huge geek and was determined to write an abcedarian poem about this collection with every line ending in Fendi (thank you David for making this bizarre and slightly masochistic format stick 3 years after our workshop).

Anja embarks us on fur frenzied Fendi.
Beeline in A-lines down catwalks for Fendi.
Caution, animal lovers, coats might offendi.
Devil wears Prada but Cruella wears Fendi.
È molto caro! Accettate carte di credito, Fendi?
Freja and Frida frocked in black Fendi.
Girls gait by in muted grey Fendi,
Hunter green Fendi,
In patchworked fur Fendi.
Jablonskis high heeled in ribbed rubber-toe Fendi.
Kershaw strides in skinny suede Fendi.
Lagerfeld's lynx, even PETA would defendi.
Mustard and olives as toppings on Fendi.
Navy belt on black, on Jac, for Fendi.
Organza and fur, a match made in Fendi.
Psalm 23: and I will dwell in the house of Fendi (forever).
"Queen takes bishop sleeved smock. Checkmate." says Fendi.
Rainbow of handbags, typically Fendi.
Shaved fur and shearling for shelter in Fendi.
Tailored vests trimmed with mink by Fendi.
Up-dos à la Elvis; the King for Fendi.
Volume raised to billowing Fendi.
White alligators on the farm that is Fendi.
X marks the spot but fur marks the Fendi.
Yes sir, that’s my Fendi:
Zealously pelted as long as Karl is for Fendi.

Today's inspiration

I would like to be wearing every single one of these outfits - I think they reflect a style that I strive for -  kind of a 60s-mod-icon-meets-flower-child / very-polished-yet-casual look. I think there's a lot here that I've written about too - the denim and florals and nudes, for example? Yes.

Alberta Ferretti Fall 2010 RTW

When I think of Alberta Ferretti, I think of a subdued and understated glamour, which is the antithesis to my Versace post, right? Alberta Ferretti makes dresses that are soft on the eyes and elegant. Far from being plain, though, Ferretti adds a subtle glitz to her look - I keep picturing Audrey Hepburn. Wearing one of her dresses wouldn't dead stop a party, but people would be whispering about you all night, which is a kind of attention I personally prefer! I love the first nude dress (if my message hasn't quite hit home, let me repeat that I LOVE NUDES right now) with its delicate jeweled embellishments. Another favourite is the white dress Freja is wearing, with its sheer sleeves decorated with sparkles. I posted the long black tulle dress because it reminds me of a simplified Marchesa dress.

Versace Fall 2010 RTW

I FEEL LIKE I SHOULD WRITE IN CAPITAL LETTERS BECAUSE EVERYTHING ABOUT DONATELLA'S COLLECTION SCREAMS NOTICE ME. ELECTRIC COLOURS, METALLIC BODY-CONS, CUT-OUT DRESSES AND SEXY SLITS RUNNING ALL THE WAY UP THE LEG. IF YOU EVER WANT TO WITNESS A LOUD PARTY INSTANTANEOUSLY DIMINISH TO THE MERE SOUND OF ICE CLINKING IN COCKTAILS, WALK INTO ONE WEARING A DRESS FROM THIS COLLECTION.

D&G Fall 2010 RTW

Ok, so maybe the reindeer sweater onesies and massive fur boots were a bit too Ski Bunny for me and not wearable outside of a fictional 60s ski resort (think the original Pink Panther), but I did appreciate the spunky spirit of the collection. I also appreciated the velvet tuxedo blazers and the beautiful series of long flowy white dresses.

Hi, can I have your hair please?
