Spikes and spines

These Assad Mounser necklaces are a wonderful mix of stones and metal. I love the combination of spikes + turquoise / spikes + agate. I definitely wouldn't mind wearing one of these on a night out, just over a plain white t-shirt, worn with jeans, black heels and bright red lipstick.

While we're talking about jewelry...I wouldn't mind wearing this Ayaka Nishi spine cuff either.

Wishful sun, scattered sea

This editorial encapsulates my mood this morning. I'm feeling a little...out to sea? Giant feathered headpiece-like? Escapist, I think. I just crave the breeze off a vast path of open water. Here is Barbora Vesela shot by Jason Lee Parry and styled by Tara Nichols and Stephanie Mojonnet for Tokion. Favourite picture = I want to be in a ripped t-shirt, shipwrecked in sun.

A handful of favourite coats

Ekaterina Mukhina's lace coat

Magdalena Frackowiak's shearling coat

Lindsey Wixson's black lips (oh, and bright fur coat)

Heidi Mount's cozy sweater coat

I don't know who this is, but I like the camel coat. But also, dream boots? Is that you?
Yes it is. Chloé lace-up wedge annkle boots from their Fall 2009 collection

Casual

Part of the sporty trend is taking casual to the next level and somehow making sweatshirts or sweatpants look glamourous. (Granted, anything on Daria would look glamourous.) I'm also kind of loving slouchy drawstring anything...sweats, jeans, trousers...so cosy...and perfect with sandals for summer days and with heels for summer nights.

Charlotte

I promised I wouldn't whine about Coachella anymore and I won't. I'm looking at this picture of beautiful Charlotte Gainsbourg (in beautiful Balenciaga pants) listening to her song "Me and Jane Doe" off IRM. Amazing.

The last of my "I wish I was at Coachella" whining

So I wish I had gone to Coachella, not just to see Jay-Z, Vampire Weekend, Dirty Projectors, The Dead Weather, The xx, The White Rabbits, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Gorillaz, Pavement and Thom Yorke TO NAME A FEW (breathe in), but also just to sit on the grass basking in the sun in all my hippied-out cut-off-ed, bandana-ed, floppy hat-ed, lacy, floral flower child glory. Here are some of my Coachella fashion favourites I took off wwd.com.

Romance

Without romance, life seems a little lackluster, so I found some in this editorial to share with you. Maybe it's the serene expression on Kristy Hume's face, the overexposed/faded/vintage look of the photos, the delicate chiffon blouses, the relaxed poolside setting, or more overtly the title of the editorial that's giving me a romantic vibe. I just feel like her lover is photographing her and writing her love letters. Who writes love letter anymore? It's a dying art form that needs to be revived.

You may remember Kristy Hume from, say, every magazine cover in the 90s. I love her because on one hand, she's a Birkenstock-wearing Woodstock hippy, but on the other hand, when asked by a Russian reporter what was the most exciting part of modeling, she answered: "Um, the money." (Did I just kill the romance?) This Lula editorial is shot by Skye Parrott and styled by Polina Aronova in pieces from Creatures of the Wind's Spring 2010 collection.

More shoes!

I'm still searching for the perfect (and affordable) shoe. I'm still debating between new boots or a pair of wedge sandals. Maybe wedge boots? Confusion.

In my mind, my dream boots are maybe black leather, maybe khaki canvas, more spring inspired, have an open toe, lace up (flashes of Alexander Wang's Freja and McQueen's Faithful), have a chunky heel to facilitate walking on Amsterdam's cobblestones, maybe some platform (flashes of those Burberry boots). Boots, where are you? Let me find you. As for wedges...alas, I'm warming up to even the giant wooden ones, but I haven't fallen in love with any I've seen yet.

I was on the Top Shop website, and I chose a selection of boots/wedges that are in the ilk of what I'm looking for but not quite on the nose of my dream shoe. Though, they DO ship to the Netherlands...

ARABELLA canvas lace-up boots $170

ARMOUR peep lace-up cuff boots $160

PINE buckle canvas boots $270

PACE buckle wedges $280

WAFFLE lace-up wood wedge $135

SHIRLEY cut-out wedge $160
