bec & bridge Winter 2010

Another Aussie label to fall in love with, this one helmed by designers Becky Cooper and Bridget Yorston. "bec & bridge strikes a fine balance between aspirational and achievable fashion. I like the athletic look of their winter collection. Sport-chic is a huge trend lately - think Alexander Wang S/S 2010 football collection. The thing I like about sportswear collections is that you can kind of be a little tongue-in-cheek with your literal take on sporty (bold lace-up theme here), but sportswear is inherently simple and casual (tank tops, t-shirts) so it's still wearable. Basically, it's fun.

What's with these Australians? Is there something in the water? Should I go there?

A food post?

Why not. Today is one of those days where I just sit in front of the tv and eat things. So here are some food pictures, but also some pictures of me and my man out and about, in the apartment, on the roof and engaged in various shenanigans.

After going out for breakfast today, I came home and made this / Bacon brittle (from my sis) was one of the best things I've ever ingested.

Black & White

I got this vintage bowler hat a while back and I think I only wore it once. Well, here it is! Channeling a bit of Charlie Chaplin today. Or Clockwork Orange? Two very different things.

I was planning to wear my beloved flea market turquoise necklace with this outfit, but yesterday, it exploded right outside the door to my building. After which, I spent about 10 minutes squatting there, with groceries, purse and keys still awkwardly in my arms/hands...scooping beads off the ground and also retrieving them from the inside of my shirt...beads falling everywhere...three construction men staring at me. (SATC: "I came all the way from New York to squat and scoop at Dior...")

Oh well. Nothing a little dental floss and handy work can't fix.

La Garçonne

Browsing through La Garçonne's online shop and creating some looks. Can you tell this is one of my favourite activities (didn't you ever play dress up with paper dolls as a wee child? same appeal)? Looking at expensive and pretty pretty items might seem either masochistic or like an exercise in futility...but it inspires me, allows me to throw trends together and puts specific looks in my brain, making it easier to find more affordable substitutes. They are kind of just guidelines/examples of what we could look for. All this to say, I created a daytime and nighttime look for spring/summer. Which would you rather wear? My DAY or NIGHT look? Happy Friday! xox

DAY: Lately, I am really loving delicate white lacy/embroidered things for spring/summer. Delicate white lacy/embroidered thing + denim/chambray = perfect combo. I also like carrying around my entire life in big slouchy bags. Lastly, throw some colour into your sandals, even it's a subtle step up from brown like mustard.

NIGHT: I always love the combination of long-sleeve and short-dress. There's a nice balance to it. As for the jacket, I'm definitely still on the the khaki green bandwagon, especially when paired with pink. I'm also still presently obsessed with the wedge and I know I posted Chloë Sevigny's suede buckle wedges a couple days ago, but these are completely different, ok?
