One word: lace. Lace shorts. Mini lace. All leg and a little lace. Not an over-elaborate "you look like a doily" lace. Detailed but simple lace. Just a bit of lace peaking out from under a tailored coat or jacket. Lace in colour. Lace in powder blue. Blue lace overlay and a lace bouquet on one shoulder.

Helmut Lang Spring 2010 RTW and Resort 2011

I'm focusing mostly on the denim and t-shirt aspect of Helmut Lang's resort collection because it encapsulates what I like most about Helmut Lang.

And on that note, why not flash back to the Spring 2010 collection too? Especially since a) I loved it, b) I never posted about it, and more relevantly c) it was designers Nicole and Michael Colovos' introduction of a denim-focused line. A little minimal, a little goth, lots of tight leathery and legging-y things = "tough-chic."

This one's for my girl Andy and all the other badass girls I know.

Rag & Bone Resort 2011

This isn't about vacationing in St. Tropez or St. Barts. When I think of Rag & Bone, I think understated casual, reinvented tomboy, muted greys and impeccable layering. Like if Annie Hall were made today, she'd be dressed in Rag & Bone. If I liked tweed in their fall collection (I'll still find it here, but), I love the light silky fabrics in this collection. And yeah. Those lace up boots worn with grey socks are pretty much the incarnation of my most profound sartorial fantasies.

Weekend getaway looks

I surprised the boyfriend with a weekend getaway to the bustling and glamourous Hague (ha). Honestly though, it was wonderful. Between our boutique hotel with its Versailles-inspired decor (maybe a bit of an overstatement) and randomly hearing (though perhaps not serendipitously, just because it's) Bon Jovi live on the beach at Scheveningen, we had the most fun and romantic weekend, as modest as it was. Now we're back with a bit of a tan (ok, maybe it's a sunburn) to show for it. 

Off to the beach in a cropped tee, vintage Levi's cut-offs and the boyfriend's plaid.

Oh hi, we're tiny and pretty and look amazing in t-shirts and messy hair and chunky vintage black boots and excessive finger bling and we are adorable as best friends forever hugging and posing....

Seriously though, they are. These pictures of Amanda Norgaard and Hannah Holman make me miss my (much more) beautiful girls in Montreal - so this is a shout out to you (Sara, tu sais que je parle de toi).
