Erin Wasson x RVCA Fall Lookbook
There's no doubt about it. Erin Wasson is pretty rad. Illustrations by Alia Tenner.

Shakuhachi Spring/Summer 2010/11
Ok, so maybe if Bambi Northwood-Blyth was modeling a collection of burlap sacks, I would still blog about it because I'm IN LOVE with her (along with EVERY OTHER blogger, I know). But here's an Aussie label I love for its laid back, breezy, beach-town vibe. I imagine myself leading a happy coastal life whilst donning a sheer floral jumpsuit. But Shakuhachi is so much more than just beach. It's sexy and sophisticated in its details, like the cutouts of the maxi dress and the lace and sheer details in the last two dresses (love that pink bandage dress).
Acne pre-spring/summer 2011
I'm digging the big floppy leather hats, the chunky boots that AREN'T wedges (sorry Atacoma fans - I've always hated those), the pant suits, the long trench with the short shorts and this general "Cowgirl Assassin" look, which I'm sure are the EXACT WORDS the designers would use to accurately describe the collection (ha).

You are a stone fox
Not gonna lie. Loving Nicole Fox (America's Next Top Model winner) for Wildfox. Something about her sleepy eyes, fire engine red hair and the freckle on her lip.

bec & bridge Winter 2010
Another Aussie label to fall in love with, this one helmed by designers Becky Cooper and Bridget Yorston. "bec & bridge strikes a fine balance between aspirational and achievable fashion. A strong design aesthetic underlies each collection and resonates with their signature style - contoured lines and sleek silhouettes, the look is the epitome of young, modern and chic." (from becandbridge.com)
I like the athletic look of their winter collection. Sport-chic is a huge trend lately - think Alexander Wang S/S 2010 football collection. The thing I like about sportswear collections is that you can kind of be a little tongue-in-cheek with your literal take on sporty (bold lace-up theme here), but sportswear is inherently simple and casual (tank tops, t-shirts) so it's still wearable. Basically, it's fun.
What's with these Australians? Is there something in the water? Should I go there?

If you're in Sydney, Australia...
...go to Shop 81, 33 Baywater Road, Potts Point and bring me back this pink dress:
I posted about Australian label Aje's Summer 2010 collection in January and they've finally opened a boutique in Sydney (online shop to come, so you still have a chance to buy me that pink dress). Here are some looks from Aje's Winter 2010 collection and some shots of the new store I took off their facebook fan page.

J.Crew Fall 2010 RTW
J. Crew? Who knew. The collection depicts: "Edie Beale goes to Girl Scout camp." If you haven't seen Grey Gardens (the original documentary, not the Drew Barrymore/Jessica Lange HBO version), watch it. Bizarre/wonderful Big Edie and Little Edie are creative director Jenna Lyons' inspiration for this J. Crew collection.
There is just too much I love about this. It's easy to admire individual pieces: the tweed blazers and coats, chambray button downs, the fur bag, shearling lined vest, knit thigh highs and that wonderful plaid flannel cape. What really blows me away, however, is the textural layering. I'm beginning to realize that mastering the art of layering is the essence of style. Details, like floral embellishments and hats by Albertus Swanepoel add to the eccentric styling. Also note the presence of camel. Camel is the new black, or should I say the new khaki, which was the new black a month ago?
